In this post I want to tell you a secret "how to get a job you want". I know most people won't follow my way, that's why I'm sharing it :D Maybe you'll say this method is too brave, not for everyone, and not applicable for all the places. Or that it applies only to me. (Which is not true!). Analyzing my recent experiences, I can say that an important thing you should have (if you want to try this method, and succeed) is CONFIDENCE. (not only while proving that you're the best candidate for the position you're applying for, it's a very helpful quality while communicating with people in everyday situations: when asking a shop-assistant to refund the money for the low-quality shoes, when negotiating a promotion with your manager, when talking to a person you like). I saw many cases of how smart/beautiful/nice/ambitious people didn't get what they wanted just because they didn't believe they worth having it (didn't believe in themselves).
If you want to know how to get a job you want, continue reading :D This year when I came back to China after my 2 months trip in South East Asia, I decided to change my occupation. I didn't want to be an English teacher anymore (I was doing the job for 1,3 year). So I started to search something that would make me wake up with a smile and not thinking "oh, nooo, work again!" (: One day I went to the library, and found a book, that changed my life, literally!

It is a helpful practical manual giving you advices on how to find YOUR place (city), your passion, discover best qualities and abilities, your dream job, and many more others. If I could, I would quote the whole book (or you can ask me to send you an electronic version).
Most job-hunters who fail to find their dream job fail not because they lack information about job-market, but because they lack information about themselves.
How did it help personally me? While reading I discovered the best and the worst ways of job-hunting. And you know what surprised me the most? The way I was looking for a job (you read about it in my previous post, didn't you?) was on the top of the list of the worst ways. According to the statistics mentioned in the manual, if you use online search, send CV only, your chances to get a job are a bit more than zero (5-10%= 5-10 people out of 100 will get a job). Shit! That's why I failed. It explains in details every "good" and "bad" method. I'll only mention the best two which I used, and that work: 1) your personal contacts (friends, relatives, any person you meet, like a hairdresser, or a waitress), asking them if they know anyone who can help you to get a job in, let's say, "Microsoft". Step by step try to find a person/company who might need you and hire you. 2) Ta-dam! my favourite one! The one that works for me: "Walk in way" – prepare a list of companies you'd like to work for, think of your desirable position, update your CV, learn about the company (check if they have any positions at the moment; it's ok, if they didn't post any), think of why you want to work there, why they should hire you, how you can contribute. Simple? Drink a glass of wine! (I'm kidding), look at yourself at the mirror, smile, say to yourself: "I will do it!" And go there! Don't stop smiling until you see an employment contract.

Why does this method work more than other ones? 1) If you see them in person, you'll have an immediate answer if they have a position for you or not (not all the available positions are posted online!!!) Thus, rectruitment process goes faster. 2) You'll talk with them directly, showing the best of yourself (your charisma as well. Yes, you do have it!) and how suitable you're for this position. Believe me, if you show them your deep interest in a job, enthusiasm, confidence, abilities, knowledge, achievements, personal qualities, ambitions, .....EVERYTHING that may help you get it, you will get it!

And I'm not saying that it'll be definitely a perfect (maybe for you it'll be so) well-paid job in a positive environment with the best boss in the world (who'd let you read Paulo Coelho at work). Write me, if you find it! (And I'll be there). Most likely, as it was in my case, if you try this method, you'll get a job in a place you wanted to work in (because it was YOU who chose them) but it won't necessarily fulfill ALL your expectations. I believe some of you got a job offer by applying online (or using other ways). Congratulations! But for an impatient person like me, it's easier to get an address of that amazing place, visit them (meet a good future friend while waiting for an interview, as it happened to me once), have an interview, and a job offer later...Much faster, isn't it? And much more effective! (If they 1) don't have a suitable position for you, or 2) you didn't get a job, at least you'll get experience in having interviews (= the more you practise, the more confident you become).
p.s. One day, I'll learn to write shorter posts.....
