a girl in the airport

Did I tell you I love adventures? That's why I had 3 flights instead of a direct flight Guangzhou-Bali. More adventures=more stories=more memories to remember.

3.45 am-the first flight is to Singapore. (Hi, sleepless night!)

My first time (luckily) at Baiyun airport in Guangzhou: sleepy and slow officers, long lines, noisy Chinese....While waiting for boarding, I  heard a girl talking on the phone with her mom in Russian: "I can't stand it any more! I just want to leave this country!" When she finished the conversation, and I asked: - How long have you been in China? 2 weeks,- she answered. - And you? - 2 years....We talked a bit. It turned out, the girl was born in Kyiv, her parents were Russians, and she was holding a Canadian passport (living in Canada for 21 year). A small world, isn't it?

I took my seat on the plane, and was left alone with my thoughts: I spent 2 years(!) in China. It's a long time for a traveling bird. What did I get instead? Hundreds of stories, some great people, who became my friends, challenges I had to deal with, Chinese mentality that was driving me crazy, much love that I shared with kids and students I taught. But the most important, I was changing, I was making mistakes, I was trying to accept all given opportunities (including 2 jobs without days off). I also realized, that everything was right...otherwise I wouldn't be who I am. It all led me to where I am now.
